Pietro Luraschi – Tour Leader

His love for the African continent, for its wildlife and its people took him for the first time to the bush as a volunteer in the Tarangire Lion Project, a research project on the lion population in northern Tanzania. It was the beginning of a great adventure that brough t him to work for the last 12 years in the wildest of Tanzania’s protected areas like the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park.

The deep feelings given by a walk in the bush brought him also to specialize as a walking guide. His desire to guide, exploring and improving his understanding of Nature, has allowed him to work in different wilderness areas throughout East Africa, the horn of Africa and Southern Africa.

Training has been a natural progression and a way of giving back to a profession that has given him so much. He trained in Kenya and Tanzania and actually is head guide trainer for Asilia and trains the Tanzania national parks rangers for walking safaris. Photography is another keen interest that complements his guiding.

The joy of waking up to the sounds of the bush, the wonder of discovering every day a bit more of these incredible places, the desire of sharing and helping other people to understand the language of the bush ties him to this continent, this profession, and this life style.

He is accredited with Fgasa as a Level 3 guide and Trails guide (1st rifle)
