Types of Adventures
Create an adventure as unique as you.

Every traveler has their own unique vision for their trip. Most travelers to Africa want to go on safari, but they typically combine this with other experiences. Africa has something for everyone. Immerse yourself in a vibrant or endangered local culture, canoe in a national park or visit a winery, The various destinations offer a variety of location specific activities that can be combined with the safari according to your preferences and create a trip that is truly one-of-a-kind. From a luxury safari, to a mobile tented safari, to trekking through the mountains to observe gorillas in their natural habitat, to summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, to a canoe safari or tracking the “Big Five” on foot, the possibilities are endless! Whether you’re seeking adventure, serenity, or a blend of both, a personalized African trip will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.
Each of our safari itineraries are designed with activities tailored just for you.
Planning Your Adventure
We’ll work together to truly understand what you want out of your adventure.
When you book a trip with Intrepid Expeditions, you will have access to our expert travel designers, who are invested in spending time getting to know you and building your perfect itinerary. Unlike some tour operators who have special arrangements with suppliers, we remain impartial to ensure that we choose the best options for you. Going direct and booking each facet of the itinerary yourself is not only a headache, it’s harder to design a cohesive trip and understand hidden costs – and safety is a major concern! Our team has a deep knowledge of Africa and we have years of experience planning safe, memorable trips.
We believe that your adventure starts with proper planning, and Intrepid Expeditions is here to work with you through the entire process until we get it right. That’s why we begin our work by getting to know you, your preferences, and your sense of adventure. Your safari consultant will ask questions about your family or travel partners, their interests, and any special requirements you may have. We’ll also learn about your preferences for accommodations, style of travel, types of activities, and if you have specific destinations in mind, so that we can start to make recommendations for you.
Timing and seasons are also important considerations. Furthermore, we will work with you to identify the best properties to visit within your preferred budget range. Your travel designer will make suggestions based on all of the information gathered and will continue to refine your trip as we get to know you better. We are dedicated to making sure that every aspect of your adventure fits your specific needs, interests, and budget, so that you can experience the beauty of Africa in the way that’s right for you.
Types of Camps
We’ll help you plan an incredible experience, day and night.
We’ll help you plan an incredible experience, day and night. Your safari adventure doesn’t end when the sun goes down. Living accommodations are an important part of any adventure, and are especially important out in the wild. Whether your traveling party wants an authentic “bush camp” or “mobile camp” experience or prefers more comfortable quarters, such as a “tented camp” or a “lodge”, or a mix, we can provide a variety of options. From luxury lodges, to more rustic camps, to authentic boutique hotels in town, your consultant will provide information and sample images of these properties. Please note that costs are not necessarily related to luxury and amenities, as location and remoteness are additional factors to consider.

Guides
We’ll match you up with local safari guides...
The safari camps and lodges that we work with all have excellent resident guides who are highly trained in their field, excellent interpreters of the surrounding ecosystem and great company on safari. With their understanding of the ingenuity of both the wildlife and plant life, they will entertain, educate and inspire you, all while keeping you safe, comfortable and getting you around the “bush”.
In some cases, travelers like to have a private or specialized guide who accompanies them throughout their safari, moving from camp to camp with the group whether large or small. Over the years, we have developed a great network of trusted guides in the various destinations and make sure to find the right match. Traveling with your guide is a great way to “connect the dots” as you experience different eco-systems and cultures. This added touch is a form of luxury, but it is often the highlight of our clients’ experience.
